Mountain Biking

There are many mountain-biking trails in Mauritius. Discover the beautiful trails of the island.Highlights:• Many hotels do have a bicycle hire on the premises and arrange some outings in the vicinity of the respective hotel. • We can arrange for you to discover the interior of the island on guided mountain bike tours• Advance notice is needed.• Yemaya Adventures are great in organizing rides for interested parties.• Professional equipment and well-trained staff are provided.• If you are a beginner we have the flat cultural trails or if you are a regular mountain-biker we also have the more challenging trails for you.  Bras d'Eau (Roches Noires)• Good for beginners and for the more serious ones as well• Start from Roches Noires• Cycle through some bush forest before joining the old railway line where we visit some lava caves• Reach the exotic forest of Bras d’Eau and cycle along shady trails• Admire the endemic and rare bird Paradise Fly Catcher• Discover the ruins of an ancient sugar mill factoryBras d’Eau Forest – lava tunnels discovery – typical villages• Discover the National Park of Bras d’Eau and its information center• If lucky enough, admire the Paradise Fly Catcher, an endemic bird• Cycle on the old railway line leading to the Roches Noires village• Visit the lava tubes and learn how the island was formed some 10 million years ago• Visit some typical villages while riding and taste local food, veggies and fruits• The trail heads on to the coast and back along the coastal roadDistance: 20 KmsCurepipe – Mare aux  Vacoas – Mare Longues – Tamarind Falls• Ride along a few single trails that link up to Mon Vert reserve, home to endemic plants• The trails takes us to the Mare aux Vacoas reservoir and Maccabee forest• Admire the stunning views onto the Black River Gorges• Pass along the Mare Longue lake and the agriculture land to join the famour Tamarind FallsDistance: 30 Kms Blue Bay – La Cambuse – Le Souffleur• Explore the most beautiful wild coastline of the island, desert beaches, cliffs and amazing views through this ride• Pass through Le Bouchon village and admire the Pont Naturel and Le Souffleur• The trail is rocky and at times you will have to push the bike passed rivers and tougher passages.Distance: 20 Kms
